Comiket C108 lands at Tokyo Big Sight on August 15 and 16, and half of Tokyo’s otaku crowd will be there. The week around it is full too: four events that fit around the halls, plus one September announcement worth saving now.
Dragon Quest the DIVE
The Dragon Quest 40th anniversary walkthrough, ドラゴンクエスト the DIVE, runs daily at ハラカド (Harakado), the Tokyu Plaza next to Harajuku Station, until September 6. The centerpiece is a VR ride on Meta Quest 3 headsets with a motion seat: you climb on a キラーパンサー (killer panther) and fly across fields dodging monsters. The rest of the floor has a King Slime over two meters tall to hug, a slime-touch lab, and ラーの鏡 (Ra’s mirror), a face-tracking screen that shows you which monster you would be. A memorial zone adds creator materials and full-size copies of the three hero swords.

100% Doraemon & Friends in Tokyo
We covered the 100% Doraemon & Friends exhibition in the big July roundup, and it runs through September 30, so here is the new part: the venue switched to summer hours on July 18, so through August 31 it opens 9:00 to 19:00, last entry 18:30, with 30-minute timed slots 公式サイト. Tickets run 2,400 yen weekdays and 2,600 weekends for adults, 1,800 / 2,000 for students, and 1,600 / 1,800 for kids four and up, with same-day tickets 100 yen more if slots remain.
It sits five minutes from Yurikamome Tokyo Big Sight Station, so it pairs perfectly with Comiket itself. And the 6th floor UMIKAZE KITCHEN serves a Doraemon plate with no event ticket needed チケット.
Shin-Ei Animation 50th Anniversary Exhibition
Free, which is the whole pitch. シンエイ動画 (Shin-Ei Animation), the studio behind the current ドラえもん and クレヨンしんちゃん series, turns 50, and the Suginami Animation Museum runs the retrospective to November 29 企画展ページ. The first half, to October 4, covers Crayon Shin-chan, Ninja Hattori-kun, Kaibutsu-kun, and newer titles like 僕の心のヤバいやつ (The Dangers in My Heart) and PUI PUI Molcar; from October it switches to Doraemon and the 1980s catalog. Original cels and a corner for the new film Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku are included.

Odaiba Fan Rising (お台場ファンライジング)
Fuji TV’s new summer event, successor to the old お台場冒険王 (Odaiba Adventure King), runs July 25 to August 23 at the Fuji TV tower in Odaiba, 30 days straight. The one-day passport is 2,800 yen for adults, 2,500 for elementary and middle schoolers, free under 6; hours are 10:00 to 18:00, last entry 17:30 いこーよ.
The draw for anime fans is ちいかわ おばけの森 (Chiikawa’s Forest of Ghosts), where Chiikawa and friends appear as ghosts, with photo spots for the movie 映画ちいかわ 人魚の島のひみつ. The 22nd floor goods shop ちいかわお台場商店 sits inside the passport area and gives a random uchiwa fan per 3,000 yen spent 公式サイト, ちいかわお台場商店, フジテレビ・プレス.
ABEMA Anime Festival 2026 (ABEMAアニメ祭 2026)
Save September 19 and 20: ABEMA’s free outdoor anime festival takes over the rooftop of MIYASHITA PARK in Shibuya, with talk stages featuring casts of 薬屋のひとりごと (The Apothecary Diaries), 転生したらスライムだった件 第4期 (Slime season 4), 桃源暗鬼, 黄泉のツガイ, and more, plus photo spots and goods stalls around the park. Booking before you go
Dragon Quest DIVE and 100% Doraemon sell timed slots that go in waves: Doraemon’s September dates opened August 1 at noon, so book early. Some Dragon Quest goods have already sold out with no restock in Tokyo. Suginami closes Mondays, and the ABEMA roof needs no reservation. Best combo of the week: Doraemon plus Comiket on the same ride, since the expo is five minutes from Big Sight.
