The second half of August is the quieter stretch after the Comiket weekend crowds, which is when fresh popups and collab cafes tend to open. Several were announced in the last week or two, so I went through the official pages and pulled out the four worth booking ahead for. All run in late August or into September, and all are indoors, which matters in Tokyo right now.
1. BLEACH GRAFFITI Collab Cafe at 洒落CAFE (Share Cafe)
Dates: August 26 (Wed) to September 13 (Sun), 11:00 to 21:00, last food order 20:00 Venue: Share Cafe Shinjuku Marui Main Building 8F, Shinjuku 3-30-13 (Shinjuku Marui Honkan 8F, two minutes from JR Shinjuku Station East Exit) Reservations: First-come 来店予約 (store visit reservation) via LivePocket, opening today, August 6 at 18:00 Note: Full reservation system; a free-entry slot only opens up if a reserved seat goes unfilled
The final cour of the Thousand-Year Blood War anime, 禍進譚 (Kashin-tan), is airing right now, and this collab celebrates the broadcast. The whole look is グラフィティ (graffiti) and street art: newly drawn chibi illustrations of Ichigo and company in a spray-paint style appear on the menu and the goods. Every collab order gets one random original coaster from six designs, and every 3,300 yen of goods buys one of six bromide cards. Expect limited character drinks and food with acrylic charms and picks attached 公式サイト (BLEACH 千年血戦篇) Anique ショップ.
This one needs fast action: reservations for the whole run open tonight at 6 PM and are first-come, so set a reminder if a specific date matters.
2. Delicious in Dungeon POP UP SHOP at AMNIBUS STORE
Dates: August 21 (Fri) to September 6 (Sun), 11:00 to 20:00 Venue: AMNIBUS STORE -white-, Shibuya MODI 4F, Shibuya Jinnan 1-21-3 (a few minutes from Shibuya Station) Price: goods from 275 yen; opening day uses a shuffle lottery for entry
The theme is 星空メイド・執事 (starry-sky maids and butlers): the Delicious in Dungeon cast in new illustrated outfits printed on trading badges, acrylic cards, big stands, and keychains. Trading glitter badges run 605 yen each or 6,050 yen per box, with 10 designs per set. Spend 2,000 yen or more on event goods and you get a random postcard from six designs. August 21 is the first day and the stock is 先行販売 (advance sale) of these new illustrations, so the store runs a lottery for entry that morning; arrive early for day-one picks プレスリリース (PR TIMES / arma bianca) 渋谷モディ イベント.
3. STEINS;GATE Final Mission Popup in Akihabara
Dates: August 29 (Sat) 10:00 to 19:00, August 30 (Sun) 10:00 to 17:00 Venue: Bellesalle Akihabara B1F, Soto-Kanda 3-12-8 (Sumitomo Fudosan Akihabara Building), about five minutes from Akihabara Station Price: Free entry; busy time slots need an advance reservation via LivePocket
The visual novel remake STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT comes out on August 20, and two weekends later its first official popup lands in Akihabara, the series’ home turf. The centerpiece is a roughly 2.7-meter model satellite, plus the first official goods for the remake: acrylic stands, tapestries, clear files, a うーぱ (Upa) plush, and lab coat reproductions. Goods sales run through an online order system, and there is a 500-yen lottery badge with signed illustration prizes. Free-entry windows exist outside the reserved hours on both days, but slots are limited, so the official advice is to book a time プレスリリース (PR TIMES / MAGES.) 科学アドベンチャー シリーズ公式.
4. Love Live! Official Card Game x GiGO Collab Cafe
Dates: July 11 to November 8; menus and goods swap every three weeks Venue: GiGO Collab Cafe Akihabara 3rd Building (GiGO コラボカフェ秋葉原3号館), Soto-Kanda 1-11-11, 7F Price: drinks 700 yen, food 1,300 to 1,760 yen; entry is by reservation
Love Live! now has an official trading card game, and its collab cafe rotates through the series’ groups in six rounds, each with its own menu, coaster set, and birthday cards handed out at the register. The current round, 虹ヶ咲学園 (Nijigasaki), runs until August 21, and the Aqours round takes over from August 22 to September 11. If your favorite group is still weeks away, the full schedule is on the official page. Note the GiGO Collab Cafe Stands in other cities only serve drinks and goods, while the Akihabara main cafe has the full food menu ラブライブ!シリーズ公式 GiGO コラボカフェ特設.
Popups and collab cafes in Tokyo turn over fast, and after the Comiket weekend the schedule resets, so most of these are fresh listings rather than leftovers from July. Two practical notes: all four venues are air-conditioned, which makes them solid midday escapes in the current heat, and summer sale hours at Shibuya MODI and Shinjuku Marui can shift, so check the store page before heading out.
Vocab: コラボカフェ (collaboration cafe), ポップアップ (popup), 描き下ろし (newly drawn illustration), 来店予約 (store visit reservation).
